<p>In the early 1980’s ad hoc groups of community leaders realized that for our county to develop its full potential, it was necessary to develop the region’s most important resource – its people.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes"> ; </span>In 1986 and 1987, “Leadership South Brevard” was sponsored by the Greater South Brevard Area Chamber of Commerce, while the Cocoa Beach Area Chamber of Commerce produced “Leadership Brevard”. Four graduating classed resulted in those first two years and the Leadership Brevard Alumni group was created.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes"> ; </span>In 1988, all four chamber of commerce collaborated and presented a countywide Leadership Brevard program.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes"> ; </span></p> <p>In 1990, Leadership Brevard committees unified under the governance of a Board of Directors via the Brevard County Council of Chambers and was named “Leadership Brevard”.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes"> ; </span>In 1993, Leadership Brevard, Inc. was designated an independent 601 (c)(3) not – for - profit educational organization and is now commonly known as Leadership Brevard.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes"> ; </span><span style="mso-spacerun: yes"> ;</span></p>
